What would late-night movie and TV show binges be without all the new, exciting series that are coming out! Surely, finding out about the “Latest Trending’ movies has become a lot easier with the internet. It is common for people to watch these series and movies over platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Disney + and many more. Trying to keep up with show releases and the platform they are on has really changed over the past few years! We used to see advertisements on TV and then go to the theatre to watch movies or wait until the DVD came out. Since COVID-19 hit, there has been more use for platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Disney Plus, and with their streaming services, we can catch up on episodes, find the old movies we used to watch as kids or binge-watch new TV shows and movies. It is interesting to think about how COVID-19 has been a big player in restricting or impacting if people go to the movie theatres. There has been a major influence with us staying inside and finding new series and movies to watch.
Producers have also been trying to keep up with the generation as they grow and adapt to the growing technology. With new slang, and trying to connect with the younger generations, the industry must make sure we can all have something in common while watching the newest tv-show or movie. With that being said, the latest TV show with the most buzz seems to be the Netflix series, “Squid Game.” Squid Game came out this year on September 17th, 2021. This TV series is about a group of players who accept an invitation to play traditional children games to win a special prize at the end of the games. On top of that, there are deadly stakes that all the players go through during each game.
While playing the games, the players also have a time limit. If they break the rules of the game they are playing, they will be eliminated. Squid Game has been popular amongst people who are interested in a “free for all” Type of vibe. In Squid Game, everyone is trying to survive, get the prize, and not get eliminated during the span of the games. There are many people who haven’t watched it yet due to it being viewed as inappropriate due to the intensity of the challenges.
In addition to talking about Squid Games, there are many more TV shows and movies out there on mainstream platforms as well as in the making to be out into the theatres. For the advancement in technology and animation, we can see how movies and TV shows have progressed over time. With that being said, there are many shows and movies that have been rebooted, like Magnum P.I, Hawaii Five-0, and Star Trek, just to name a few.
